On a short week after a hard fight in Philly we head to Dallas. With the 49ers loss we are still clinging to some playoff hope( I don’t know if making it would be the most beneficial thing, but I can’t help but want to win). The feel around this Dallas game just isn’t the same. Maybe, it’s the COVID thing maybe it’s the losses not just wins and losses but the loss of players due to injury. Either way (maybe it’s just me) the energy is down around this game. Heinicke is back which gives us a shot , but these boys up front gotta block.
No matter good our defense played Heinicke and Allen ran for their lives last game we have to communicate better on the line and adjust the blocking with RB’s and TE’s to combat the blitz. I really want to see more Cam Sims this game he has to be our clear cut #2 receiver until we can get something out of Curtis Samuel. I’d like to see him help open up the field for Terry underneath I just don’t think we are going to find serious success until we start getting him more involved. None of this, of course, can happen without our run game we just don’t have the kind of explosiveness we need to shoot it out.
There’s a lot of different ways to run the ball I just feel like we are always trying between the tackles from singleback or shotgun. Gibson can throw his weight around sure, but getting him and our other playmakers in space needs to become a priority what’s the point of getting fast guys if we aren’t going to let them use their speed. Unfortunately, I don’t see Gibson getting a big workload or maybe not playing at all, and with Mckissic on IR getting this offense going is going to be quite a task.
More concerns stretch to defense though we’ve gotten Fuller and Curl back Will Jack and Collins have been declared out for this matchup. This is just a lot to deal with on a super short week having not seemed to really figure it out against Dallas last time. I think we lose this game 27-16. We get Joey Slye back so I think we will kick well but an inability to finish drives and sustain momentum is going to come back to bite us. The Cowboys Offense had a hard time getting going against us but with our offense struggling I don’t know if we win the turnover battle , thus losing the field position and time of possession battle. Barring some sort of break game from one of our reserves Rb’s I think the only thing that will be ascending is our draft position. I have my doubts, but the goal remains Beat Dallas!!!!!!!!
